Following the approval of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for the coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, vaccination in the European Union (EU) countries started simultaneously.
After countries such as Germany, Italy, Austria, France and Greece, vaccination started in Southern Cyprus.
Nikos Anastasiadis, the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration, had the corona virus vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech at the Health Center in Latsia.
Stating that the world continues to suffer due to the epidemic, Anastasiadis made a statement after the vaccination and thanked the scientists who carried out vaccination studies, “The vaccine will protect us and give us the right to live.” said.
“It is the vaccine that will protect us, it is the vaccine that will strengthen not just hope, but the right to life. Thank you very much,” Anastasiadis said.
“2021 should be the restart of a new life or a new path to real life, as we had lived for so many years,” the Cypriot President underlined.
Asked whether the vaccine has been sent to the Turkish-speaking Cypriot community, Anastasiadis pointed out that “we have ordered, in the arrangements made, to cover the entire population of the Republic of Cyprus, either Greek Cypriot or Turkish Cypriot.”
He explained that it is a matter of occupied Cyprus having the necessary infrastructure so Turkish-speaking Cypriots can be supplied with vaccines.
