Despite the coronavirus epidemic, more than 20,000 Jews left their home countries this year.
In a written statement made by the Israeli Jewish Agency, it was stated that more than 20 thousand Jews from 70 countries immigrated to Israel this year.
Of the Jews who immigrated to Israel, 10,200 were from the former Soviet countries, 3,120 from Western Europe, and 2,850 from North America.
In the statement, it was noted that 160 thousand Jews living abroad have consulted the relevant institutions about immigration to Israel this year, and 41 thousand of them were put into action.
The statement also stated that 250 thousand Jews are expected to immigrate to Israel in the next 3-5 years.
While approximately 34,000 Jews immigrated to Israel last year , the number of Jews immigrated to Israel this year due to the coronavirus epidemic has decreased compared to the previous year.
Most of the Jews who come within the framework of Israel’s occupation policy are settled in illegal Jewish settlements built on Palestinian land in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
As a result of this policy, the number of Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem has exceeded 200 thousand and the number of settlers in the West Bank has exceeded 400 thousand.
While the Tel Aviv administration spends millions of dollars each year to encourage Jews abroad to return to Israel to disrupt the population distribution in the region , it does not allow the Palestinian refugees it has displaced to return to their land.
Israel, which grants a Jew living anywhere in the world the right to immigrate to the country, opposes the implementation of UN Resolution 194 and prevents Palestinians who were subjected to forced migration in 1948 from returning to their country.
