The new year is yet to come and will bring Pokémon GO  new tasks, new Raid bosses, more bonuses and perhaps even Pokémon with themed costumes to celebrate the entry of 2021.

Niantic reported on its social networks that -as every month- its most famous augmented reality game in recent years will have some news for January, which will coincide with the New Year’s themed event that begins next Thursday , December 31 and ends on January 4th.

For starters, from the first day of January until the 31st, Chansey will be the Pokémon that appears when you collect all seven Research Achievement Seals .

Additionally, a Pokémon region will be celebrated each week , starting on January 5 with Tesselia , followed by Sinnoh, Hoenn and Johto.

Also, Niaintic explained that next month the collection challenges will arrive in Pokémon GO  that will offer Trainers a very useful guide to catch the Pokémon featured in various events.

Raids in Pokémon GO
Like every month, the five-star Raid bosses will change :

From January 1 to 5,  Ho-Oh will appear in Legendary Raids and you will have the opportunity to capture him in his shiny version
From January 5 to 12,  Genesect with a PiroROM will be the Raid Boss
From January 12 to 19, the Legendary Pokémon in Raids will be Heatran , who could even be shiny
From January 19 to 26, the Raid bosses will be  Kyogre and Groudon , who you can also capture in Shiny form
Starting January 26, a surprise Pokémon will be the boss in Five-Star Raids
Regarding the Mega Raids :

Mega-Charizard Y , Mega-Blastoise, and Mega-Abomasnow will appear in Mega Raids , and Mega-Charizard Y will be strongest from January 5 to 12; Mega-Blastoise is a good option to use in this month’s Five Star Raids
On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, a Mega Evolved Pokémon will appear for the first time directly in Mega Raids. Mega-Venusaur and Mega-Houndoom will also appear in mega raids from January 19, in addition, Mega-Houndoom will be stronger from January 26 to Monday February 8
Hours of Featured Pokémon
Every Tuesday there is an event from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in which a Pokémon appears more frequently and in which there are special bonuses, this is the calendar for January:

Tuesday, January 5: Lillipup will be the protagonist and you will earn double Stardust for catching Pokémon

Tuesday, January 12: Drifloon will be the featured Pokémon, earning double XP per catch

Tuesday, January 19: Shroomish will be the protagonist and you will earn double the Candy for catching Pokémon

Tuesday, January 26, 2021: Phanpy will be featured and you will earn double the Candy for transferring Pokémon
