One of the most anticipated games, of which we know extremely little so far, is GTA VI . It doesn’t take much thought to know why: its developer company, Rockstar Games , is one of the most prestigious in the world. In addition to Grand Theft Auto , they are responsible for other sagas such as Red Dead Redemption, Manhunt, Bully and others.
The truth is that with GTA V and its component GTA Online they have been such a success that it has not been necessary for them to continue with sequels to this saga, so they chose to simply launch content updates. They recently launched their largest expansion yet, called Golpe al Cayo Perico. On this occasion they gave a special interview, in which they talked about the future of the saga.
This multiplayer has brought them unparalleled income for years, and now they prepare the version of PS5 for GTA 5 and its multiplayer mode, so it does not seem that they will leave the game in the near future. Even so, they already seem to be thinking about the next installment of Grand Theft Auto, because they hinted at a detail about it, although without directly naming it as GTA VI.
One of those who participated was Scott Butchard, developer of Rockstar, who was brought up the subject of the future of Grand Theft Auto. When asked about the mix between multiplayer content and single-player gameplay, he said “I think you see that in [ GTA ] Online, and in the future we will add more of that single-player element.”
The other developer who participated in the interview, Tarek Hamad, was asked if Rockstar will continue to tell single-player stories despite the success that GTA Online has had so far. He replied with a short, but concise, “absolutely”. So while it is not exactly a great detail, it is good to know that they will experiment with both single-player and online in the same installment in their next GTA.
