Apple is looking at the possibility of making its future Watch thinner by eliminating the haptic feedback engine entirely, as per a new patent filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
But because haptic feedback is crucial to the experience of the user, the company wants the battery to take over that function itself. This defines a “moving battery component” that provides haptic feedback.
Apple could free up some space by eliminating the vibration motor, making the battery itself bigger and eventually improving battery life. Or the manufacturer has any other plans for the free room to be used. Then again, even the patent does not materialize into a finished product, so only time can tell.
