Saturday Night Live audiences were stunned by John Krasinski and Pete Davidson after they shared a steamy kiss during his hilarious four and a half minute monologue.
For the first time, when the two-time SAG winner, 41, hosted the iconic sketch-comedy series, he was bombarded with repeated questions about his The Office character, which aired on NBC for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013.
‘It’s nothing short of mind-blowing for me to be here on this historic stage now because,’ the star, known for his role as Jim Halpert on the US remake of The Office, said, before he interrupted SNL cast member Alex Moffat.
Without letting the father-of-two finish even finish his sentence, Moffat interjected: ‘Hey Jim, I have a question. My question is you’re Jim from The Office.’
Despite several times to field other inquiries related to the beloved sitcom, someone else shouted at him to ask about the whereabouts of his past onscreen wife, Palm.
‘Guys, here’s the deal. Pam’s not real. She’s played by Jenna Fischer, we’re just friends and we are married to other people,’ said the husband of Emily Blunt.
In the crowd, Beck Bennett, Kenan Thompson and Ego Nwodim told him he looked too buff to be Jim, and insisted that he kiss Pam, who was nowhere to be found.
‘I’m sorry about this,’ Davidson said, interrupting them. ‘I think what’s happening is everyone’s been inside for a year watching The Office non-stop. So Jim and Pam are real to them.’
‘Is this Pam?’ Kenan called from the audience, forcing John to explain it was just Davidson next to him on stage.
‘I think they really need for someone to be Pam,’ Davidson said. ‘I think we gotta give them what they want, Jim. Jim, you gotta kiss Pam.’
