On Saturday, Daniel Torres became the new KSW featherweight champion when Salahdine Parnasse stopped less than two minutes into the first round.
The clumsy right hook of Torres (12-4) caught Parnasse (14-1-1) on the top of the head and put him down to spell an end to the fight, prompting a change of ownership at the 1:49 mark of Round 1 in the KSW 58 main event with the 145-pound belt.
KSW 58 took place in Lodz, Poland, at an undisclosed location and was streamed via online pay-per-view.
Parnasse got slightly too bold to come in on Torres with a combination after exchanging some blows early in the fight, and it cost him.
Torres looked to counter with his right hook, and as Parnasse ducked, he was caught on the side of his head by the lower part of Torres’ bicep and dropped Parnasse face-first on the canvas.
Parnasse was unquestionably hurt by the glancing blow, despite not being out cold, and it was enough for the referee to step in and stop the fight.
With that, Torres, who closed as a +500 betting underdog as a high, was considered the new KSW featherweight champion, while after suffering his first career loss, Parnasse was stunned.
