The middleweight matchups of the upper-echelon keep coming.
Darren Till vs. Marvin Vettori is being targeted by the UFC to headline an April 10 UFC Fight Night at a place and venue to be announced.
On Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the match confirmed the targeted match to MMA Junkie but requested to remain anonymous as an official announcement of the promotion has yet to be made. UFc’s media partner, ESPN, announced the news first.
Till (18-3-1 MMA, 6-3-1 UFC) most recently played against Robert Whittaker in July at UFC on ESPN 14. By unanimous decision, he lost the fight and sustained a knee injury. Till was booked for the December fight against Jack Hermansson. Till’s injury, however, was still nagging and he pulled out of the fight. In the official UFC rankings, Till, No. 4, has lost three of his past four battles.
Vettori (16-4-1 MMA, 6-2-1 UFC) is riding a winning four-fight streak. Vettori stepped in for Till after victories over Cezar Ferreira, Andrew Sanchez, and Karl Roberson, and fought with Hermansson in December. Vetttori defeated Hermansson by unanimous decision in his first UFC main event.
The April 10 lineup includes the addition of:
Darren Till vs. Marvin Vettori
Nina Ansaroff vs. Mackenzie Dern
Jarjis Danho vs. Yorgan De Castro
Ignacio Bahamondes vs. John Makdessi
Norma Dumont vs. Bea Malecki
Sam Alvey vs. Zak Cummings
