A research has suggested that the British public remains unclear about which members of the animal kingdom are flourishing or near extinction, with nine in 10 unaware that the beloved donkey is at risk of being wiped out. Donkeys suffer from the worldwide trade in their skin, which is used in Chinese medicine.
It was found in a survey of 2,000 adults that 84 percent were unaware that animals typically found on UK soil and abroad are endangered. Two-thirds of adults did not know that bees were at risk, while 60% believed that the population of gorillas was flourishing. A survey shows that many Britons do not know which species are at risk of extinction.
