In Phetchaburi’s Cha-am district, five fishermen were rescued, while the bodies of four others were recovered after their boat sunk on Sunday (Feb 21).On Saturday, the Naresuan Rescue Unit heard of a fishing boat sinking some 35 kilometers off the shore of Cha-am (Feb 20). The ship was from Samut Sakhon.
Woradet Phakdeejaruphat, 65, who supervised the mechanics of the ship, and three crew members, all Myanmar nationals, were identified as the missing, namely San Kyaw Thu, 32; Pe Po Aow, 33; and So How Sound, 28.
Woradet’s body was discovered 18km away from the boat in the Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan, while the remains of the three crew members were found trapped in the wreck.
The five crew members who were rescued were rushed for a check-up at Cha-am Hospital and there is no sign of any significant injury so far.
In the meantime, families of the dead were called to pick up the remains and plan funerals.
