Greece can see 15 kilometers into Turkish territory with a new surveillance device at the Evros Land border with Turkey.

In particular, with 11 cameras and long-range radars mounted in the area between Sofiko in Orestia and the river delta in Alexandroupolis, Greece now has the capacity to track the movement of illegal immigrants attempting to penetrate deep into Turkish territory.

The cameras and radars will be connected to the police headquarters and six other operating centers and will be worth EUR 14.9 million for the entire project.

It is funded by the Migration and Home Affairs Directorate General of the European Commission.
