Police continue to investigate the death of a two-year-old boy whose body was discovered in a dumpster in an apartment complex in the US state of Wyoming.
Athian Rivera was discovered several hours after he was reported missing on Friday at around 1pm in Cheyenne.
Police said they suspected foul play yesterday, but didn’t specify how the boy died.
A chain-link fence partially surrounding a dumpster at the apartment complex yesterday was connected to notes of condolence and hundreds of stuffed animals.
A fierce wind blew and there were very few people out in the area.
With “RIP my perfect innocent son, Athian Emmanuel Rivera” the Facebook account of Cheyenne resident Kassy Orona led and included many mourning messages.
“I don’t know how I’ll ever get over this … you’ll always be with me baby boy,” read a message on Friday from Ms. Orona’s account.
The post claimed that Ms. Orona had two other kids, but did not explain or imply how the child died or got into the dumpster.
Ms Orona did not return a comment-seeking Facebook message and did not have a phone number listed.
On Friday, after hearing about the missing boy, police and firefighters conducted an intensive search.
They used a reverse 911 call to alert people to be on the lookout for him within a half-mile (1 kilometre) of the Lexington Hills apartment complex.
