Next, Aamir Khan will be seen along with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh in Advait Chandan’s upcoming comedy drama, Laal Singh Chaddha. The movie is an official remake of the hit Forrest Gump from Tom Hanks-starrer Hollywood. And Vijay Sethupathi was confirmed to have been roped in for a significant role in the film as well.
The Tamil star, however, walked out of the film and speculation was rife that when he declined to lose his weight, the actor was asked to quit the project. Vijay has now cleared the air on his way out of the starry Aamir Khan. “First of all, as an actor, I’ve always had the highest regard for Aamir sir. His selection of roles always inspired me to try something different every time.
I was even more impressed by his humility and knowledge of cinema when I got to know him personally for Lal Singh Chadha. Just being with him is a learning experience,” Vijay Sethupathi was quoted by the News Minute as saying. Recently, there have been rumors that when he heard that Vijay had gained weight, Aamir was really upset.
For the film, the master actor was supposed to be in shape, but failed to do so. “When Vijay was asked about it, he replied, “My body and my mind are very happy with me. They go with me, whatever project I go into. Vijay remembered the time when Aamir flew down to Tamil Nadu, told him about the story, and stayed overnight.
The role was offered to me personally by Aamir sir. He then flew down to Tamil Nadu where I was shooting to tell me the story. The director Advait Chandan couldn’t come for some reason. Aamir sir came alone, narrated the script, stayed in that town overnight and left the next morning.A huge superstar and no airs like that. And he is a magnificent storyteller. It was mesmerising the way he told the plot. Instantly, I said yes.
When Vijay was asked about the reason for leaving Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir said, “Then COVID happened. It ransacked all our plans. After the lockdown I had five Telugu projects in various stages of production to complete. I just couldn’t accommodate Lal Singh Chadha in my schedule.” He added, “Aamir Sir invited me to his house when I went to Mumbai. He was the perfect host, not only once but twice. I can never forget his kindness and cinema knowledge. Sometime in the near future, it would be an honor and a pleasure to work with him.”
