During a drunken brawl, a ‘well-respected’ grandmother who bit off the tip of her former friend’s finger was spared jail.
Today, in Victoria’s County Court over the fight, Mansis Bandi, 50, was given a three-year good behavior bond that forced surgeons to amputate part of her victim’s ring finger.
But, Judge George Georgiou described the case as “exceptional” in sentencing the woman.
In October 2017, when things turned sour, Bandi and her victim were at a party on Kelly Road in Cranbourne South.
“You did not provoke this incident,” the judge said.
“You were acting in what you believed was self defence.
“You, of course, overstepped the mark as to what might be considered a reasonable response.”
