Today is Wednesday, March 3rd. Authorities in South Korea said on Wednesday that they are investigating the deaths of two people who died just days after receiving AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine, according to a media report.

Since receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine, a 63-year-old nursing home patient with cerebrovascular disease developed symptoms, including a high fever, according to Yonhap news agency. The individual was transferred to a larger hospital on Tuesday, but died from blood poisoning and pneumonia, according to Yonhap.
According to the CDC, another person in their 50s with a cardiac condition and diabetes died on Wednesday after suffering multiple heart attacks after receiving the same vaccine the day before.The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) confirmed to Reuters that it was looking into the cause of the deaths, but declined to elaborate or confirm the specifics of Yonhap’s story.

A spokeswoman for AstraZeneca in Seoul said the company had no comment at this time.Last week, South Korea started immunizing its people. KDCA said in a statement that by Tuesday midnight, 85,904 people had received their first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 1,524 had received Pfizer injections.

On Tuesday, South Korea announced 444 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, up from 344 the day before, bringing the country’s total to 90,816 infections and 1,612 deaths.
