Xiaomi earlier this week announced several Mi devices, including the Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Lite 5G, Mi Smart Band 6, and Mi Mix Fold. Despite the fact that this announcement was made late in March, Redmi’s Product Direct Wang Teng Thomas hinted to a commenter that a new device would be released in April.
Following a Weibo user’s comment that there would be no new phones in April, the Redmi Director responds with a question, implying that Redmi would launch a new phone in April.
The Dimensity 1200 chipset, which is reportedly comparable to the Snapdragon 870 in performance, has been rumored for Redmi’s upcoming smartphone. According to recent news, Redmi’s upcoming gadget is codenamed ‘Ares,’ and we may be looking at a new gaming smartphone with actual shoulder triggers.
Other rumored specifications include a 5,000 mAh battery, 65W charging support, and a flat OLED display with a punch-hole selfie camera made with Samsung’s new E4 panel. Pricing is expected to be in the CNY 2,000 to 2,500 ($300-380) range, making it one of the most affordable gaming smartphones on the market.
According to PlayfulDroid, the Redmi phone could arrive in the Indian market with POCO branding, possibly marketed as a POCO F series smartphone. –GSMArena
