Arcfox is introducing a new luxury EV model that includes Huawei technology and equipment. To provide level-3 autonomous driving, the Huawei HI system combines its smart HiCar smart display with lidar technology and 5G connectivity. The video below is a teaser for the upcoming vehicle launch.
The Arcfox Alpha S HBT (Huawei Bluepark Together) is the first vehicle to be equipped with Huawei’s HI solution for self-driving EVs. According to a WeChat post by BAIC Blue Park New Energy Technology, Arcfox’s parent company, the vehicle’s self-driving capabilities will still require the driver’s attention in most cases, if the driver needs to intervene.
The Arcfox AlphaS HBT will be on display alongside three other Arcfox vehicles at the Shangai Motor Show on April 17. “It is a next-generation, intelligent, and purely electric luxury sedan developed collaboratively by Arcfox and Huawei,” a spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Last week, Huawei’s rotating chairman, Ken Hu, confirmed that the company has no plans to market a vehicle under its own brand. The company plans to work with car manufacturers to supply the Huawei HI system for their vehicles.
“Huawei’s current strategy in the auto sector is still limited to being a supplier, not an EV maker.” – Zhang Xiang, automotive analyst.
As Huawei looks for new revenue streams outside of its telecom and smartphone businesses, the company hopes to collaborate with more automakers to bring the platform to more vehicles.
