While HTC still releases smartphones on occasion, the Taiwanese company has long shifted its focus to the VR headset market. Earlier today, an iF Product Design Award listing revealed the world’s next Vive VR headset, which is aimed at fitness enthusiasts.
The HTC Vive Air is a virtual fitness VR headset inspired by sports shoes and designed with high-intensity training in mind. The headset has quick-drying knitted fabrics on the upper and headband, as well as a lightweight design that is ideal for at-home workouts. The Vive Air also includes quick-release toggles for the casing, allowing for simple washing and drying of the fabric overlays.
HTC issued an official statement to UploadVR confirming that the Vive Air is still a concept piece at this time, though we did get a hint that the headset could arrive at Vivecon 2021, which will be held on May 11-12.
