By 2040, it has dedicated itself to using 100% carbon-free technology. In the next three decades, it is committed to an 85 percent reduction in the gross carbon emissions from 1990 levels.“So these are very aggressive targets,” says Fengqi You, a professor of energy systems engineering at Cornell University.
He wanted to figure out if these goals are realistic.
“Before we started this study, we were not sure,” You says.
You claim that if the government invests in these innovations, it would be able to achieve its objectives. It might also be able to meet these expectations ahead of time if it also imposes a carbon tax.
“So in the end, we do see the future is quite bright,” he says.
… as long as New York starts making changes now.
