Sea Of Thieves has teased the start of season two, which will begin next week, after switching to the seasons and Plunder Pass model earlier this year. They’ve released a brief teaser trailer, which those with a keen eye might be able to spot. Stealth strategies, I’m afraid, are about to get out of hand. Do you know where all of your ship’s barrels are? If I were you, I’d start memorizing right now.

Here’s Rare’s season teaser video, which likely reveals some of the new cosmetics and other items you can earn. There’s also a huge red-eyed cloud skeleton in the sky, which could be a new Skeleton Fort to fight on the high seas.

The one seemingly unmistakable scene is right at the end, when you can see a sneaky pirate tucking into an unexpected barrel. I’m aware that the stowaway meta has previously included a variety of emotes, ranging from sleeping to squatting behind barrels. It appears that you will now be able to simply transform into the barrel itself, which appears to be a recipe for high-seas disasters. Please accept my apologies in advance to my crewmates for being compulsively stabbing barrels instead of working on the sails at the bottom of the ship.

Season two has yet to be announced, but we can expect more levels of Renown experience to be earned in exchange for unlocking in-game items. There will almost certainly be a third Plunder Pass paid tier. Season two is likely to include some new activity, similar to the first season, which included new Merchant Alliance voyages for Lost Shipments. That skull in the sky has my money.

Season two of Sea of Thieves will premiere on Thursday, April 15th. Before the new season begins, you have until that date to complete any remaining Renown you want to earn in season one.
