We don’t see much of Age Of Sigmar, the setting that semi-replaced Warhammer Fantasy Battle in 2015, in the squillion Warhammer games we get these days. Look, here comes Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Storm Ground, with a May 27th release date just announced. It’s a tactical turn-based battler about assembling an army to suffocate other wizards. A new trailer hints at what it could look like.
The righteous Stormcast (basically a fantasy version of Warhammer 40k’s Space Marines), the ghostly Nighthaunt, and the honking Maggotkin (the chaos god Nurgle’s lads) make up Storm Ground’s three factions.
The game’s singleplayer campaigns are described as “roguelike” in today’s announcement, with cards earned from battles granting new units, abilities, guns, and gear. Wow! I knew they’d mentioned non-linear and complex campaigns, but that was unexpected. However, I’m not opposed to tactical turnfights focused on running. It will also feature online multiplayer PvP.
On the 27th of May, Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Storm Ground will be released on Steam for £35/€40/$40. It has a 15% pre-order discount, but you can avoid pre-ordering games. It’ll also be available on PS4, Xbone, and Nintendo Switch. Gasket Games created the game, and Focus Home Interactive published it.
In other Focus Home Warhammer news, the developers of Space Hulk: Deathwing and E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy have revealed a Necromunda FPS. Necromunda: Hired Gun, set in the heart of a 40K hive city, stars a mercenary with a cybernetic dog and a grappling hook.
