According to Diario AS, former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has returned to the club to coach goalkeepers in the Juvenil A side.
Valdes returned to the Camp Nou after finishing his playing career as the coach of the club’s Juvenil team, but he left after only a few months, according to a statement released by the Blaugrana in October 2019.
Despite Diario Sport reporting last month that such a proposal had fallen through due to Valdes’ reluctance, he has returned following an offer from the club’s new president Joan Laporta.
Despite interest from other clubs, the former Spain international has not played football since leaving the Camp Nou 18 months ago. He will now return to the fold.
Valdes made 535 first-team appearances for the Blaugrana over the course of 12 seasons, with much of his and the team’s success occurring during Laporta’s first term as president, from 2003 to 2010.
