Following his red card against Granada on Thursday, Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has been suspended for two crucial La Liga matches.
After the Andalusian side equalized, the Dutchman was sent off in the 65th minute of the match at the Camp Nou after expressing his displeasure with the officiating.
Koeman’s frustrations didn’t help his team on the pitch, as they lost a shock 2-1 home defeat, adding yet another layer of uncertainty to the title race – the Blaugrana remain third and miss out on a chance to go first.
He will now miss two crucial games for his club, the first of which is a trip to his former club Valencia at the Mestalla, followed by a match against current league leaders Atletico Madrid in the Catalan capital.
It’s unclear whether Koeman will appeal the suspension or accept the punishment.
