President Biden plans to slash US carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent below its 2005 peak in 2030 by means of Executive Orders, Regulatory Edicts and Partisan Green New Deal legislation and eliminate them (and fossil fuel use) by 2050. However, as noted by AOC’s former staff leader, GND is not only about transforming the U.S. power system.
Three fundamental articles of faith, none of them based on reality, drive this radical transformation. This GND is necessary for the crisis of manmade climate cataclysms. Natural forces have become irrelevant. Since the Little Ice Age ended two centuries ago, higher temperatures are due only to the consumption of fossil fuels and CO2 emissions, and all extreme weather events in recent decades. Twelve years of absence from the US landfall category 3-5 hurricanes (Wilma in 2005 to Harvey in 2017) is irrelevant – like the significant decline in U.S. tornadoes in 1986-2020 in violent (F3-F5) versus 1950-1985, with no violent tornadoes hitting the United States for the first time in history in 2018, too.
American foreign policy must construct a world order based on values that can deal in an organized and collegial way with humanity’s common problems. National governments acting alone cannot solve such problems, so leaders of the world have no other choice but to work together. Columnist Walter Russell Means calls this a Biden Doctrine from the Wall Street Journal.
However, China, India and many others do not regard climate change as an existential threat – let alone a problem justifying sacrificing their energy, economic, security and geopolitical aspirations. The supposed ‘climate crisis,’ ‘decarbonation’ and ‘green energy’ can be lipsticked by them. But you know your future is bounded inextricably with the abundant, reliable, affordable energy that can be supplied only by oil, natural gas and coal (plus nuclear and hydroelectric). They will not “work with” leaders who expect their most crucial purposes to be undermined.
The second inherent failure of the Biden Doctrine is that GND policies are bound to unravel America’s industrial and army strength, destroy jobs, and reduce the leverage of US in future talks. The raw material supply chain for wind turbines, solar pans, electric vehicle battery modules and back-up power systems and many other technologies have already been under China’s control. Even our advanced military equipment relies on the mining and/or processing of Chinese companies in metals and minerals. Policies of GND would only make things worse.
Substitute the 80% US of fossil fuels now fuel, which will create millions of jobs and save our planet from climatization, quickly, easily, affordably and ecologically – with clean, green, renewable, sustainable carbon-free, solar and wind technologies.Astronomical, mind-numbing are the raw material requirements for the GND economy. For example, Biden will install 30.000 MW of wind turbines off the coast of Mexico, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The Biden team will install the wind power station. Total Atlantic coastal wind capacity, supposed to be 10 000 MW, would barely cover 35 percent of New York City’s top summer electricity demand – assuming full 24/7/365 power output. All of the 30,000 MW would not meet the current highest energy needs of the New York State.
The foundation for this presumed global transformation is the Biden Administration’s Materials Acquisition for Global Industrial Change program – better known by its acronym: MAGIC.
(This is not an official name. In fact, there is no such program, and no evidence that Team Biden has a clue about what would be required to transform America from fossil to green energy. MAGIC simply provides the most accurate description of how they expect to achieve this transformation.)

At 3.6 tons per megawatt, however, 108 000 tons of copper were needed for just this Phase 1 offshore wind scheme. At average 0.8 percent metal in global miners this means that about 13,000,000 tons of mineral are mined, crushed and processed!
14-MW turbines at a height of 815-850 feet above sea level of 30-100 feet Vesta, GE, or Siemens-Gamesa (160 feet higher than the Washington Monument). Every blade has a length of 350 feet. Each turbine weighs 2 000-3 000 tonnes, plus massive concrete-and-rebar bases of metals, plastics and composites. Alone in phase 1, tens of million tons of materials, billions of tons of gold and overload are involved.
In addition, we are working on materials for sub-Sea electric cables, onshore transmitters, onshore wind turbines and solar panels, backup battery systems, electric vehicles, electric warmer electricity and other GND technology throughout the United States and are looking at tens of trillions of tons of metals, mines, processing plants and minerals worldwide.
“Renewable” power is “carbonfree” claims Team Biden. This deception can be overcome only by considering the production of electricity after the installation of turbines and panels – and ignore how the raw materials are extracted and processed and how the techniques… far from the United States… with all fossil fuel in every step of the way…
Without any restriction on Paris’ climate agreements, emerging economies are happy to sell us “green, renewable” technologies that send electricity costs at prices many times today and drive factories and industries out of business that cannot compete with China and India.
The Texas blackout last winter will be a commonplace, where wind power generation plummeted 93% – however gas production rocked 450 percent to make the difference, even if pipelines were not capable of supplying enough fuel, because legislators and regulators declared pipeline compressors to run the affected grid rather than gas from the pipelines.John Kerry states that unemployed oil workers and plant workers will have “good jobs” in solar panels. In fact, these jobs are going to be abroad. Workers from the United States will assemble, install, maintain, repair, remove, recycle and dump green tech imported only. American families will be forced to spend trillions of dollars with perfectly good gas furnaces and water heaters – and trillions more to install costly new GND devices.
The failure of President Biden to understand these realities of Green New Deal could be attributed to a reduced mental capacity. But this can also happen because it can rarely be done – in an environment where wooly, hard-grained, climate-obsessively ideologues of cancelation do not allow discussion, questions or disagreement. Where consultants, cabinet members, regulators and legislators have the same mindset or are too shy to speak out.
We can only hope that enough citizens will gather sufficient meaning in our ruling classes to eliminate the belief that Mr. Biden is in economic suicide by MAGIC, climate monsters, and other countries.
