Real Madrid are reportedly scouting Marquinhos of Paris Saint-Germain as a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos this summer.
After a trophy-laden 16 years in the Spanish capital, the Los Blancos captain is currently in contract extension talks with the club. His current deal is set to expire next month.
Ramos’ agents and the club are still miles apart in terms of expectations, with the 35-year-old demanding a two-year deal and Real Madrid sticking to their 12-month offer.
The standoff has sparked speculation about Ramos’ future, with reports from L’Equipe, via Mundo Deportivo, claiming Marquinhos is on their list of possible replacements for the 2021/22 season.
PSG is expected to demand a minimum of €65 million for the Brazilian international after signing a four-year contract with the Parc des Princes less than a year ago.
Real Madrid are expected to look for defensive reinforcements in the coming months, with doubts about Ramos’ long-term future at the club, and Raphael Varane set for contract talks as he enters the final year of his own contract.
