According to Marca, Real Madrid has continued to restructure their youth system, a process that began last year with the appointment of Manu Fernandez. He took over from Ramon Martinez, who is now Jose Angel Sanchez’s deputy.
Manu Fernandez is keen to surround himself with characters he trusts as he renovates Madrid’s youth system, and Carlos Guerrero and Damian Jimenez, who are currently at Getafe, will join the club next season.
Carlos Guerrero is the technical secretary of Getafe’s youth system. He played for Real Valladolid, Getafe, Murcia, Toledo, and Racing de Ferrol after graduating from Atletico Madrid’s academy. Damian Jimenez, his right hand, is in charge of Getafe’s grassroots football and is a member of the club’s board of directors.
The two will try to carry on the work that Manu Fernandez started last year. He is the son of Manuel Fernandez Trigo, the former general manager of Real Madrid for 21 years. He has been a lifelong football fan, having played for the old Ciudad Deportiva from 1994 to 2000. Alongside him, players like Guti and Alvaro Benedict shone.
