According to Mundo Deportivo, Memphis Depay, a personal request of Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman, has been spotted house-hunting in Barcelona. The Dutchman, who is currently at Lyon, is regarded as the ideal player profile for the Catalan club: versatile, experienced, and goal-oriented. The fact that he will be a free agent this summer makes him even more appealing to a cash-strapped Blaugrana.
Memphis was spotted house-hunting in Barcelona last Wednesday with family and friends for next season. He was spotted looking at homes in high-end areas, particularly near the Pedralbes area, which is unsurprising for a wealthy footballer. He flew back to Lyon from El Prat airport in the utmost secrecy, but the visit clearly indicates that a deal is nearing completion.
Memphis’ agent was in Barcelona in early April to negotiate with the Blaugrana, meeting with Mateu Alemany, the club’s director of football. He had agreed terms with the previous board, just like Eric Garcia, only for the goalposts to be moved due to Barcelona’s financial situation to change. Memphis’ ambition is to sign for Barcelona, despite the fact that Juventus, Inter, and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest.
