The focus of recent Real Madrid news has been on club captain Sergio Ramos’ contract expiration this summer, but he is not the only Los Blancos player whose contract is up this summer.
Lucas Vazquez, a utility player for Real Madrid, is also out of contract on June 30th, and the club and the Spain international have yet to reach an agreement.
According to a report in Diario AS, the club has increased their salary offer to the player to €5 million per season, indicating that an agreement is likely to be reached.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are said to have been interested in a deal, but the player now prefers to stay in Spain’s capital.
Vazquez has improved his fortunes at the club this season and is now a key member of the squad, as well as the starting lineup – he has started 31 games in all competitions this season, compared to just 10 the previous season.
However, due to an injury, he will miss the remainder of the season.
For Los Blancos, Vazquez had filled in at right-back and on the right side of a front three.
