According to Mundo Deportivo, Sergio Ramos’ contract negotiations with Real Madrid are still in progress. Just as it appeared that Ramos’ time at the Santiago Bernabeu was drawing to a close, it appears that the Andalusian centre-back has agreed to a pay cut in exchange for a two-year contract.
Given Ramos’ age of 35, Madrid is currently only offering him a one-year contract, a policy the club has always followed with players of his age. Ramos and his entourage want to stay in Madrid, but no final decision has been reached. In the coming days, the Madrid captain will meet with president Florentino Perez for a discussion.
In terms of sports, Ramos is still recovering from a muscle injury. His goal is to be fit for the second leg of Madrid’s Champions League semi-final against Chelsea on May 5th at Stamford Bridge. Los Blancos are coming off a 1-1 draw in the first leg against Valdebebas.
