Ousmane Dembele is a player who splits Barcelona fans. He has failed to live up to his potential since joining the Blaugrana from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, when he was billed as part of a group brought in to replace Neymar.
During his time at Camp Nou, the Frenchman has sustained numerous injuries, which some critics have linked to an unhealthy lifestyle involving too much video gaming and junk food.
However, Dembele himself, speaking to Bein Sports and quoted by Marca, refuted this claim. He stated, “You cannot play four years at Barcelona without leading a healthy lifestyle.”
Dembele, on the other hand, is having a fantastic season at Camp Nou, his most complete and mature since joining. In 26 La Liga appearances this season, he has five goals and two assists, playing 51 percent of Barcelona’s minutes and directly contributing to 9 percent of their goals.
The forward’s contract with the club expires in the summer of 2022, so he’ll either have to sign a new deal or be moved on to avoid leaving on a free transfer.
Until then, he’ll hope to contribute as much as he can to Barcelona’s title push, in addition to the Copa del Rey that Ronald Koeman’s side won at Athletic Bilbao’s expense.
