The No. 1 wide receiver in the 2022 class is once again available for recruitment.
Luther Burden, a highly ranked prospect, announced his decommitment from the Oklahoma Sooners program on Tuesday.
“First, I would like to thank the entire Oklahoma coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to be a part of the Sooner family,” he wrote in a statement. “But after a long conversation with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Oklahoma.”

Burden is the No. 5 overall recruit in the country, according to 247Sports, in addition to being the No. 1 receiver. The five-star wideout has excelled at the high school level in East St. Louis, using his 6-foot-2, 194-pound body.
In October of 2020, Burden committed to Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma program. He’d received offers from practically every top program in the country prior to that, including Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and others.
Following his decommitment, Missouri (near his birthplace of St. Louis) and Georgia are the receiver’s new top choices, according to 247Sports’ recruiting tracker.
Burden’s new commitment announcement has yet to be announced.
