Manny Pacquiao, the legendary boxer, was defeated by Yordenis Ugas by unanimous decision on Saturday night in what could have been his final fight.
Before meeting Ugas, the 42-year-old Filipino had not fought in two years and had a record of 8-5 in his last 13 fights dating back to 2012. Rumors of his retirement are circulating, and his wife Jinkee added fuel to the fire by posting an emotional social media homage to “Pac Man” earlier today.
“Words cannot express how proud I am of the Man you are,” Jinkee Pacquiao wrote on Instagram. “I’m proud to be your wife. You mean the world to me and all our children. We love you so much. We your family have seen how much you have toiled, (sacrificed) and given of yourself blood sweat and tears since the beginning when you dreamed of becoming world champion. You never think of yourself and not afraid to risk your life on the ring time and time again because you love to make the people happy.
“You have achieved by the Grace of God far more than you ever imagined. Yet you never stop working to be your best.”
In boxing history, Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion. Over the course of four decades, he has amassed a 62-8-2 record, including 12 major international titles.
Pacquiao is anticipated to make an official announcement about his future plans next month.
