Huawei debuted the nova 8 and nova 8 Pro in December of last year, but it doesn’t appear like the nova 9 series will take as long. According to a recent rumor out of China, these phones will be unveiled in mid-September, after the nova 8 family has just been on the market for around nine months.
The Honor 50 series is reported to have a finer overall appearance and better colors than the Nova 9 devices. However, the Nova 9’s processor will be inferior to that of the Honor 50. For comparison, the Honor 50 is powered by the Snapdragon 778G SoC, whereas the Nova 8 and 8 Pro are powered by the Kirin 985.
It’s unclear whose chipset the Nova 9 family will use, but don’t anticipate much in terms of performance, especially when compared to Honor’s most recent device. For what it’s worth, the nova 9 will include 5G connectivity.
In terms of design, a prior rumor suggested that the Nova 9 would be a mix of what you’ve seen in the P50 series, nova 8, and the Mate 50, which is likely to be discontinued due to US sanctions.
