During Apple’s annual event on Tuesday, the company announced its latest iPhones, which include a faster CPU, a brighter display, and a revamped camera.
Due to COVID-19, Apple’s new offerings were announced totally online from its Cupertino, Calif. headquarters.
In comparison to the previous edition, the iPhone 12, the new iPhone 13 series did not feature a big physical makeover. The iPhone 13 will be available in 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch Mini sizes, as well as 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Max sizes for the iPhone 13 Pro.
Apple’s new A15 Bionic processor, which has 15 billion transistors and can perform 15.8 trillion operations per second, will be found in all four variants of the phone. According to the firm, their CPU is “50% faster than the competitors.”
The processor also powers the cameras on the phones, which now all include night mode. The iPhone Pro cameras include new 77 mm telephoto lenses for 3x optical zoom and and improvement in low-light in wide and ultra-wide pictures.
In ultra-wide mode, Apple adds a macro setting for getting up-close shots inside 2 cm.
A new cinematic option on iPhone Pro video allows the user to set the focus later and allows the focus to shift as subjects enter and exit the frame.
The cameras in the iPhone 13 Pros, according to director Kathryn Bigelow, “will revolutionize the language of cinema.”
The battery life on all four phones has also been increased, according to Apple. The iPhone 13 Mini lasts 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12, the iPhone 13 lasts 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12, the iPhone 13 Pro lasts 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max lasts 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
The iPhone 13 will be Apple’s first iPhone since COVID-19 immunizations became available, which experts believe will enhance demand. It will also be the second iPhone to support 5G technology, following the iPhone 12 from a year ago.
The iPhone 13 Mini will cost $699, while the iPhone 13 will cost $799, and both will come in three storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The iPhone 13 Pro will cost $999, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max will cost $1,099, and both will come in four storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and, for the first time, 1TB.
The display on the new Apple Watch Series 7 is somewhat larger, reaching nearly to the edge of the case. As a result, it will now allow a full keyboard as well as 50% more text on the screen.
The watch is considerably larger, with sizes of 41mm and 45mm, which are 1mm larger than the Series 6. Black, gold, blue, red, and dark green are the five hues available for the watch.
A new outdoor riding feature has been added, as well as fall support to connect users to emergency services.
Later this fall, the Series 7 will be available for $399.
Apple also introduced a new low-cost iPad and iPad Mini with a USB-C connection and 5G connectivity. Both will be compatible with the new Center Stage function, which identifies people and changes the frame to follow them.
Finally, Apple is expanding the availability of its Fitness+ workout software to 15 additional countries, as well as permitting group workouts via SharePlay.
