WhatsApp announced intentions to facilitate migrating chat history from iOS to Samsung devices running Android 10 or 11 on the day of Samsung’s formal debut of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 last month.
This feature was finally activated today. So, if you have a Samsung phone running Android 10 or 11, you can now transfer your chat history from an iPhone to it.
Voice messages, images, and videos are all included in the process, which takes place without your messages ever being routed to WhatsApp. When you install WhatsApp on a new Samsung device running Android 10 or 11, you’ll be able to safely transfer your chats from your iPhone. For this, you’ll need a USB-C to Lightning cable.
All of your account information, including your profile photo, individual and group chats, chat history, media, and settings, is migrated across. However, your call history and display name will not be carried over.
Here’s where you’ll find all the details on how the procedure works. It requires Samsung Smart Switch, which you can only do when your Samsung is brand new or after you reset it to factory settings, according to reports.
This capability will be available for additional Android smartphones “soon,” according to WhatsApp.
