Tommy Kraemer, the Lions’ rookie offensive lineman, has had another twist in his journey to the roster. On Tuesday, Kraemer was waived, and the move was completed in time to make the NFL’s official transaction wire.
After the final roster cuts, Kraemer, an undrafted rookie from Notre Dame, was placed on the Lions’ practice squad. After lineman Taylor Decker was placed on injured reserve with a finger issue late last week, he was signed to the active roster. During the 49ers’ Week 1 encounter, Kraemer was inactive.
As of press time, the Lions had not made a counter-move. After dismissing Kraemer and placing CB Jeff Okudah on injured reserve, Detroit now has two open 53-man roster spaces. If Kraemer clears waivers on Wednesday, he’ll be back on the practice squad.
